Japanese Actress and pop singer Noriko Sakai has been missing since her husband was arrested Monday for allegedly possessing illegal stimulants, her management office said Tuesday. “A missing person’s report has been filed with the Akasaka police. “If Noriko is watching this, please know that we are worried so much and please talk to us,” he said.

According to Masahisa Aizawa, president of management agency Sun Music, Sakai has not responded to repeated phone calls and e-mails since police found her husband late Sunday with illegal drugs. Her mother-in-law asked the police to search for the 38-year-old actress earlier on Tuesday. “Please do not worry all by yourself and contact us,” added Masahisa Aizawa.

Sakai, who became intensely popular for her girl-next-door image in the 1980s and the 1990s, went missing after her 41-year-old husband was arrested late Sunday for possession of “stimulants”, a Japanese category of hard drugs, that include amphetamines and methamphetamine.
Sakai got married in 1998 and they have a son. She is still popular both as an actress and singer and has her own line of clothes.

Noriko Sakai husband, Yuichi Takaso, 41, was arrested Monday on a drug possession charge after a police officer became suspicious about the self-described professional surfer when he was walking alone in Tokyo’s Shibuya district, searched him and found a plastic bag containing stimulant drugs in his underwear. Takaso later told investigators the drugs were for his personal use. Japan strictly prohibits the possession of both hard and soft drugs. Drug use by celebrities like entertainers and athletes frequently makes national headlines.
