At first, Khanh Hoa was chosen as the official place to hold Miss World 2010. However, RAAS Group, the organizer of Miss Worlds 2010, recently submitted their request to the government’s office on changing the location for the Miss World 2010 pageant from Khanh Hoa to Kien Giang province. The government’s office has transferred RAAS Group’s request to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration. There has been no final decision.

Hoang Kieu, the general director of RAAS, explained the move by claiming that expenditures would be huge in Nha Trang because they would have to rent everything for the pageant. Meanwhile, as Chairman of the Tien Giang Tourism JS Company with land on Thoi Son Islet, Hoang Kieu could invest in the land to both serve the pageant and benefit his company.
At first, Vietnamese Government decided that Khanh Hoa would be the place to hold Miss World 2010.
However, speaking to the media in a press conference recently, Nguyen Van Hoa, deputy director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province said that the province is preparing for the Miss World 2010 pageant and seeking sponsors.
Huynh Ngoc Bong, chief of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee office, said the change of the location reported by the media recently is inaccurate. The government has permitted Khanh Hoa to host this event.
Bong said that as it stands the government hasn’t changed its decision so Khanh Hoa is continuing to prepare for the event.
